Our Programs

"It has become clear to me that the key to healing ourselves and protecting our home, the earth, is to care for it.  To accomplish this, we must immerse ourselves in the world of mountains, trees, and waterfalls that sustain life. We must fall in love with nature."

~ Deric Young, REC Treasurer, inspired by writing from Robin Wall Kimmerer, Richard Louv, and Justice William O’Douglas
Friends of Trees

Thurston Friends of Trees is an action group of REConnect that is working to protect the trees of Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey and Thurston County.  Trees are an essential part of our ecosystem.

They play a critical role in:

  • Drawing down pollution and reducing asthma rates

  • Doing storm water management

  • Reducing heating and cooling bills
