Tree Trunk Texture

Our Programs

"It has become clear to me that the key to healing ourselves and protecting our home, the earth, is to care for it.  To accomplish this, we must immerse ourselves in the world of mountains, trees, and waterfalls that sustain life. We must fall in love with nature."

~ Deric Young, REC Treasurer, inspired by writing from Robin Wall Kimmerer, Richard Louv, and Justice William O’Douglas
Friends of Trees

Thurston Friends of Trees is an action group of REConnect that is working to protect the trees of Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey and Thurston County.  Trees are an essential part of our ecosystem.

They play a critical role in:

  • Sequestering carbon

  • Drawing down pollution and reducing asthma rates

  • Doing storm water management

  • Reducing heating and cooling bills

The Work that Reconnects

Do you live with despair, fear, and rage about climate disruption, ecosystem collapse, injustice, and political chaos?  Your pain for the world comes from your love for the world.

Use that love to empower your actions on behalf of our Earth.  Joanna Macy's "Work That Reconnects" teaches us to move from gratitude to honoring our pain, to seeing with new perspectives, and then going forth into action.

Braiding Sweetgrass

Restoring Earth Connection offers 12 week study action groups based on the book.  These are not book study groups, but rather community building, self- reflection, experiential, action oriented dives into what this book brings forward.

  • Being Settlers
